Urban river Hull: Circular walk to Oak Road

A 10k circular walk today, sunny and frosty. Highlights Goosander fishing at Oak Rd Lake, Siskins, Little Grebe in the River Hull, Cormorant, 16 Redshank, Great Black-backed Gulls, great views of Fox, 32 bird species.

The Mute Swan family welcomed me to Oak Road Lake.
A group of Siskins were feeding on the alders near the wind turbine.
The Goosander caught a large fish and was immediately mobbed by Black-headed Gulls. Fortunately it managed to swallow it quickly.
My first ringed gull of the year, a Black-headed Gull this morning at Oak Road Lake. It is from a UK ringing scheme, the North Thames Gull Group. Reported. Yellow darvic 2FVH
The Goosander settled to preen after breakfast.
A great Fox encounter. The Fox did not see me and searched around the grass, finally settling to rest in the sunshine.

A single Little Grebe on the River Hull by Croda.
Six Redshank were present upstream of Stoneferry Bridges.
One of the Great Black-backed Gulls wintering in the Stoneferry area.

A Cormorant surfaced just by me by Wilmington Bridge. A total of 4 individuals were in the area.
Redshank roost had two groups totalling 10 individuals.
