The first Swifts at Newland Avenue

I saw my first Swifts (number 93 for my 100 birds in Hull challenge) on the Tuesday 11th of May, from a car. The first settled ones in Newland Avenue chased today (9th) which is spot on the usual day that I see them back in their territories, and I even managed a record shot. It is interesting that earlier on I had seen the first fledglings of Starlings and Mistle Thrushes at Pearson Park. Both still too young to leave the trees, being fed by their parents. Starlings had been announcing the flegling of their young for a few days, as they start calling them every time they visit them with food with a screechy call reminiscent of a Jay. With Swift all the summer migrants are here and ticked (barring some rared ones like Garden Warbler and Grasshopper warbler, which would be great, but I'm not counting on. The rest of the challenge will be passage birds or wintering birds that I've missed.
